With proceeds going to support the Columbia County Fire Department Auxiliary

The Columbia County Fire Department Auxiliary has been very busy this year. The following is a brief summary of what we've been up to, not to toot our own horn, but to keep the citizens aware of where their money is being spent. We want to thank all who've supported us for another busy year.

Burned out victims-We assisted 16 burned out families in the last two years. We have tried to fill any gaps that may occur after Red Cross has helped the family. We have assisted with rental deposit money and funds for clothing and furnishings.

Firefighter support-We support our firemen and women on those late night/early morning motor vehicle accidents and house/vehicle fires. We can go to the scene with cold drinks and snacks and on rare occasions, dry clothing. This summer has been particulary difficult on the firefighters to be at hot fires.

We provided the materials and a fellow firefighter provided the labor to provide a wheelchair ramp for a disabled firefighter.

Fire Safety Education-We provide handout materials for local schools. We hope to greatly expand this area of our service.

Recognized citizens for heroism-We recognized two different children from two families that experienced a house fire. The quick thinking and bravery saved their families from serious injury or worse. They were awarded plaques by the Fire Chief, Division Chief, Shift Commanders and auxiliary personnel at a ceremony in their honor.

Open House-The auxiliary provided refreshments and service to fire department staff, dignitaries and the general public at the open house for our newest firestation, Station 48 located at 370 SE Racetrack Lane.
